Imagine My Suprise

A tragedy has occurred. I don't know how it took me this long to realize, but over Christmas my camera broke. It has been good to me, it lasted many years and has gone on many underwater adventures and produced many lovely photos. When it came to my blog I liked to take photos with my other camera...my expensive camera! It was originally my dads and when I started to show an interest in photography he shipped it out to me and told me never to send it back! What a lovely gift! Anyways, my dad is currently on a bit of a world trip! He made a stop in Paris on his way to Niger, Africa! He will be in Africa for a month and then is moving on to spend two weeks in Athens Greece! He is working with the missionary families that we support, a dream that he has always had. Because I wanted to see every single part of his trip I insisted that he take the camera with him. As excited as I am to see pictures of Paris, Africa, and Greece, I have discovered it is hard to take pictures of my most recent work without a camera. I tried taking photos with my iphone but they are just not working out for me. Nothing beats the quality of a great camera. SO my overall point is that I can't take photos for the next month until my camera returns from its travels. We are all praying it returns in one piece and brings my dad along with it. So until then I will have to intrigue you with my words. But I have no time for that in this instant, so ill get back to you on that! Enjoy your day, I hope it is as sunny as mine.

Hello Again!

It has been a long and wonderful holiday and yet I am so glad to be back home and rekindling my relationship my sewing machine! I have so many great scarf ideas this year and I cannot wit to start working and showing you the results. My inspiration and excitement has come from this new great website that I just discovered!!! Can you guess what it is??? .......... If you guessed Pinterest, then your right! I love it so much. I thought I was creative but there are people out there who have more time to fuel their creativity and come up with amazing ideas and projects, and I am so jealous of the women who get to spend all day creating whatever they set their minds too! Anyways my point is that I am going to be working hard to bring you the neatest, most delicious scarves you have ever seen! Until then I am stocking up on fabric and buttons. If you know of anyone, or if you yourself, is going through the storage boxes and find unwanted fabric, buttons, zippers, or anything of sewing use I will take you for coffee in exchange!! Also I am committed to being in the Kris Kringle Craft Fair in Parksville this fall, after learning quickly last year that I did not have enough stock to even participate in the show I am starting to build stock early on and will be well prepared for craft season! I can't wait! Pictures coming soon!

A Season For Scarves

I have been having a lot of fun with scarves lately. After moving in with a group of wonderful girls who were scarf fanatics I soon too grew to love a good scarf as an accessory or a necessity in this cold weather. But as a sewer it presented as a challenge to create scarves that were fashionable and fun and incorporate my vintage buttons! A friend gave me a great idea and I went with it and expanded as I found new fabrics and new shapes. Here is a little look at the scarves I have been creating lately, both for myself and others! If you want one, that can be arranged!!!

Softest stretch material ever. I love plaid, I always have, and a scarf is a great way to incorporate it into your wardrobe without going overboard and looking like a private school girl!
The pink is my favorite and I wear it all the time. Thanks to Anne for such a great way to use my wonderful buttons in a fashionable way! My roommate rocks this one as well and I have many more in stock if you want to be as cute as us this season!
The grey and green are made from a light stretch material. They are very soft and comfy! And talk about great fall colors!

This one is made from a thick wool. VERY warm!!!

Change Of Plans!

There has been a change of plans regarding the hair pieces I have been posting on my blog!!! Its time to go big or go home. I will no longer be accepting orders online as I need time to mass produce in time for the KRIS KRINGLE CRAFT MARKET in Parksville!!! No words can express how excited I am to show my work at the market. So if you were thinking of purchasing a flower I now encourage you to make your way down to Parksville on Nov 24, 25, 26 or 27th and stop by my table. I will be selling flowers as well as a collection of scarves and skirts! For more detail about the fair you can visit the webpage here!

Don't worry those of you who have already put in an order, I have it completed already and you will get your flowers very soon!!!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this quick decision, and to my roommates for putting up with the large mess of fabric that has recently accumulated in the living room!!!

More To Look At

Here is the most recent photo shoot done with my roommate Leah. All of these flowers are also for sale!!

This one here is a large flower done in a grey stretch material. Very Casual, Very Fun. It has been attached to a headband and can slide along the headband for perfect placement!

Next is the large patterned silk flower I mentioned in yesterdays post. This is one of my favorites!

This final set of pictures is just for fun, I am not selling these ones this Christmas season. They are a lot more work but are very old fashioned and completely stunning!

Thank you to my beautiful roommates for being my hair models! They did a wonderful job of showing off my creations!

If you like what you see let me know (flowers, not my roommate - shes taken!) and take a look at yesterdays post to see how you can purchase them just in time for Christmas gifts, or to make a statement at your office Christmas part this year!

Time To Shop

Post One of Two displaying the cute and wonderful creations that are finally available to you!

First things first

Below is a sample of the tulle flowers that I make. They are the simplest and lightest of my hairpieces and are an easy accessory to add to any outfit. I wear them frequently either dressed up or casual and they really add to your total look without being too bold!

I am selling the tulle flowers for $10. Each one is attached to a nifty bobby pin that clips securely into place. I can make these in a wide range of colors so let me know what your favorite is!

Now if you are a little bolder and looking for a more formal look I would recommend the silk flower! These have been a house favorite  for weddings and girls night out. Not only are these flowers beautiful but they also incorporate buttons from my vintage button collection making them originals! You can read about my buttons in my post Better With Buttons! Below are a few of my current creations. There is more to come as I will be doing a photo shoot with my new pieces tomorrow!

These silk flowers with a vintage button are being sold for $15. They also come in several colors. I have purple, black, white, and a patterned silk (you will see this one tomorrow) available now and other colors by special request. The glitter you see on the third flower is also available upon request!

Finally my new additions! Below you will see my cloth flowers! These can be made with or without a vintage button. These flowers as so fun and can be either casual or formal and can be incorporated into so many hair styles so easily! I hope you love them as much as I do!

The cloth flowers can also be made in a range of colors. I currently have Black, Pink, Yellow, Teal, Blue, and Purple. Other colors by special request.
These flowers also range in size, as you can see! The small flowers like the cutie pie pink and the black/ teal rose are sold for $10 and the big bold ones like my favorite yellow flower sell for $15.

All flowers can be attached to either a nifty bobby pin that clips into place or a standard black headband.

I hope you have enjoyed what I have to show you so far and are looking forward for what is to come. I am taking orders for the Christmas season from now until November 30th and will guarantee that all flowers are made by December 12th. If you do not live in Nanaimo all flowers will be shipped by that date. Shipping is not included in the prices above.

If you would like to place an order you can comment below or send me an email to ashleystauffer@hotmail.com

Christmas Is Coming

With Christmas around the corner I would like to help you with gift giving this year, and In return give back to the people of Nanaimo at this festive time of year! Within the next two days I will be making a post that has all of the flowers and other sewing projects that I will be making to sell for this Christmas season. I am going to donate 10% of the money raised to Loaves and Fishes, the local food bank!

Now don't think that you have to be from Nanaimo to support this great cause!!! Not only are you supporting a charity in my local town but you are also supporting me in my development of my new at home business! With your support we can feed Nanaimo and clothe them as well with custom Rip' N Stitch clothing and accessories!

Stay tuned for my next post and start thinking now of all the young  girls and special women in your life that would be blown away by such a creative gift!!

See you Soon :)
